Pavel Grishin

Pavel Grishin was born in 1978 in Moscow. In 2005, he graduated from the Mural Painting Department of the Sergey Stroganov Moscow State University of Design and Applied Arts.

The artist creates paintings, drawings, illustrations, art objects, and installations. Grishin’s paintings blend abstract and figurative art, classical tradition and contemporary visual culture in a collage-like manner. In his creative practice, the artist resorts to photographic references discovered in newsfeeds and categorised into ‘figures,’ ‘spaces,’ and ‘colour impressions.’ Pavel distorts and reassembles these random images into an imaginary event beyond the realm of familiar cause-effect relations.
